An old sign on the rear wall of The Miners Arms shows its original name - The Arms of the Miner, a legacy from the days when the local coal miners held their meetings here, collected their pay, and were held to account for any misdemeanours.
The building itself dates back to the late 1700s and is full of character with lots of old beams
A more recent addition is the elegant non-smoking conservatory restaurant overlooking the garden where wholesome home made food is available every weekday lunchtime and evening.
The Miners is run by Dave and Michelle, ably supported by a dedicated staff. Children are welcome and there's a small beer garden at the rear of the inn.
Entertainment includes a General Knowledge Quiz on Thursday evenings, with spot prizes, a rollover jackpot and wine draw; great karaoke on Fridays, and live entertainment on many Saturdays.
There's ample off road parking and parties can be catered for, but please note that credit cards are not accepted.
